GimpThe GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP) is a flexible program for photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It can be used for simple painting, expert quality photo retouching, image format conversion or batch processing. Use the standard Brush, Pencil, or Airbrush tools for basic painting or define your own brushes and patterns. Sub-pixel sampling for all paint tools gives high quality anti-aliasing, while the powerful gradient editor and blend tools provide further control. There are a range of selection tools including rectangle, ellipse, free, fuzzy and intelligent, plus transformation tools such as rotate, scale, shear and flip. For advanced image manipulation there is support for layers and channels (including alpha). Flexible features such as editable text layers, transformable paths, transformable selections and multiple undo/redo allow you to make changes in multiple iterations without loss of quality. There are over 100 plug-ins freely available, and the GIMP supports advanced scripting capabilities (Scheme, Python, Perl) for batch operations. You can load, display, convert, and save to many file formats including bmp, gif, jpeg, mng, pcx, pdf, png, ps, psd, svg, tiff, tga, xpm, and many others. |
