What's New, Improved and Fixed in This Release

This release primarily contains bug fixes that affected K-Meleon 0.8. The bugs that were fixed are noted below. All other new and improved features are included in K-Meleon 0.8 except where noted. All K-Meleon users are encouraged to upgrade to this release.

Bug 540: Many plugins only work after loading about:plugins
Bug 543: Popup window is opened in 3 steps instead of 1
Bug 548: Certificate dialog missing OK and cancel buttons
Bug 550: "Javascript:" displays only title bar
Bug 551: Browser window not opening to correct size
Bug 556: Cookie accept dialog out of sight and/or window size to minimum
Bug 576: Wrong icon in tooldead.bmp

System Requirements

Windows DLLs

The dlls shipped with Windows are improved and enhanced with each version. Users of older Windows versions, Windows 95/98 and Windows NT, may have to update some dlls to run K-Meleon. If you experience problems with menus and plugins not displaying, please download the following update:

Installation Notes

  1. If you have previously installed K-Meleon, make sure to uninstall any previous versions before continuing the installation for this version. Uninstalling the previous version will remove all of the configuration and preference files. If you wish to save these files to use with K-Meleon 0.8.1, please make a copy of all of the directories under "K-Meleon\Profiles" and save them outside the K-Meleon installation directory before uninstalling K-Meleon.
  2. It is recommended that you exit all programs before running the Setup program.
  3. Double-click on the kmeleon081.exe file to start the Setup process. At any time in the process that you need to stop the K-Meleon installation, click on the Cancel button.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions in the Setup program. Avoid installing K-Meleon 0.8.1 in the same directory as an older version. When completed, you will be given the option of letting K-Meleon start automatically.
  5. If you wish to use your old configuration and preference files with K-Meleon 0.8.1, please review the details on Migrating Profiles.

Uninstalling

  1. Go to Settings - Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs.
  2. Select K-Meleon (remove only).
  3. Click on the Add/Remove or Change/Remove button.
  4. Click on the Uninstall button.
  5. The K-Meleon Uninstall program will prompt you with a confirmation before uninstalling K-Meleon
  6. Click on the Finish button to close out the uninstall program when it is completed.
